AI Mobile App Builder: one project, web plus Android and iOS
Describe your app. Totalum builds it with a real backend, then packages it for Google Play and TestFlight.
Quick answer · Updated November 2026
An AI mobile app builder turns a description into an app people can install on their phones. Totalum builds the web app with sign-in, a database and payments, then produces Android and iOS apps from the same project: native shells that open your published app. Builds for Google Play and TestFlight are on paid plans from $29 a month.
What "mobile app" means on Totalum
- One project gives you a web app plus an Android app and an iOS app.
- The mobile apps are native shells that open your published app: Android uses a remote shell that loads the site, and iOS uses a bundled hybrid shell that loads the site. They are not a fully native interface.
- Android builds: APK, or AAB for Google Play. iOS builds: a simulator app (no Apple account needed) or a signed IPA for TestFlight.
- "Send to stores on publish" rebuilds and uploads the signed apps to the Google Play internal track and to TestFlight every time you publish. Promotion to production stays your step in each store's console.
- Paid plans only. Builds are billed in credits by build time; failed builds are refunded and queue time is never charged.
What the habit tracker includes
Data model
| Table | Key fields |
|---|---|
| users | name, email, time zone, reminder time |
| habits | user, name, icon, target days per week, archived |
| check_ins | habit, date, done |
| streaks | habit, current streak, best streak, updated_at |
| reminders | user, send_at, channel (email), last_sent |
Screens (5)
- 1
Sign-in: email sign-in, with sessions that keep users logged in.
- 2
Today: the day's habits with one-tap check-off.
- 3
Habit detail: a calendar of check-ins, current streak and best streak.
- 4
Stats: completion rate by week and the strongest and weakest habits.
- 5
Settings: reminder time, time zone and account.
Built-in integrations used
Sign-in: user accounts across web, Android and iOS, from the same backend.
Scheduled jobs: compute streaks every night and send reminders at each user's chosen time.
Email: the daily reminder.
AI (optional): a weekly encouragement message written from the user's own check-ins.
Build it in 3 steps
- 1
Paste the prompt.
Describe the app and end with "make it work as a mobile app", so the agent prepares the project for the mobile build.
- 2
Refine with follow-up prompts.
For example:
- "Make the Today screen work well one-handed: big check buttons at the bottom of the screen."
- "Add a weekly goal per habit and show a progress ring on the habit detail."
- "Let users export their check-ins as a CSV from settings."
- 3
Publish, then build the apps.
Publish the web app first, because the mobile apps open the published site. Then, on a paid plan, build an Android AAB and a signed iOS IPA, or turn on "send to stores on publish" to upload them to the Google Play internal track and TestFlight.
A real backend behind the app.
Most of the work in a mobile app is behind the screens: accounts, data that syncs between devices, payments and notifications by email. Every Totalum project has its own SQL database, sign-in and server code, so the phone app, the web app and the admin all read the same data.
One codebase for three platforms.
You build and change one project. The Android and iOS apps open the published site, so a change you publish shows up on the web and inside the apps from the same codebase. There is no separate Swift or Kotlin project to keep in step.
Store-ready builds without a Mac.
Builds run on Totalum's build servers. You can test with an Android APK or an iOS simulator build without any developer account. When you're ready for the stores, add your signing keys and connect your store accounts. Signing, store connections and uploads stay under your account.
Builds billed by what they use.
Each build reserves a small amount of credits, settles on the real build time, and returns the credits if the build fails. If you already pay for Codemagic, you can add your own Codemagic token: builds then skip the Totalum queue and build limit, and Codemagic bills its minutes to you.

Note: If you need a fully native interface, Rork, Adalo, FlutterFlow and Bubble's mobile plans build one. Totalum's mobile apps are shells around a server-rendered web app, which suits products that need a strong backend, payments and a web version as much as a phone app.

Frequently asked questions
Is it a native app?
It is a native app package, but not a fully native interface. The Android app is a remote shell that loads your published site, and the iOS app is a bundled hybrid shell that loads it. Users install it from the stores like any app; the screens come from your server-rendered web app.
Can I publish to the App Store and Google Play?
Yes. Totalum builds an AAB for Google Play and a signed IPA for TestFlight, and can upload them to the Google Play internal track and TestFlight every time you publish. You use your own developer accounts, and promoting a build to production happens in each store's console.
Do I need a Mac or an Apple developer account?
Not to start. Builds run on Totalum's build servers, and an iOS simulator build needs no Apple account. To ship to TestFlight and the App Store you need an Apple developer account and a signing key. Android needs a signing key for Google Play builds.
How much does a build cost?
Mobile apps need a paid plan, from Starter at $29 a month. Each build is billed in credits by build time: credits are reserved when the build starts, settled on the real time, and returned if the build fails. Time waiting in the queue is never charged.
Can I update the app without resubmitting it to the stores?
Often, yes. Because the app opens your published site, changes you publish to screens and data reach users inside the app. A new store build is still needed when the app package itself changes, and "send to stores on publish" can rebuild and upload it on every publish.
Do I get a web app as well?
Yes. The project is a web app first, published on a Totalum address or your own domain on a paid plan. The Android and iOS apps are built from that same published project, so all three share one database and one set of accounts.
Can I use my own build service?
Yes. You can add your own Codemagic API token. Builds then skip the Totalum queue and build limit, use no Totalum build credits, and Codemagic bills its build minutes to you. Store uploads to TestFlight still run on Totalum's build servers.
